Prananarayana

Prananarayana

Prananarayana

On death of his father, Prananarayana succeeded to the throne in about AD 1633 and seals and coins were prepared bearing the name on new maharaja. The coin of the new ruler differ from those of the of his predecessors, in that they no longer have fixed date. But having the actual date of striking, initially Saka 1553 or 1555, but later both the Tanks and Half Tankas have a three digit date in Rajsaka era. The half tankas were struck with the full tanka sized dies, so the date, which appears at the bottom of the reverse design, is usually off the flan and hence illegible.
